Twiddla.com- Collaborate TOGETHER!!


Twiddla is a real-time collaboration whiteboard that allows an unlimited number of people to come together at one time to share or edit documents, images or websites.

Starting a meeting is as simple as going to twiddla.com and clicking on the green GO button. Invite others to join your session by sharing the collaboration url through the built in email. Simply by clicking on the shared url everyone joins the session. You can enter a session as many times as you like with no restrictions on time.

Best of all, Twiddla is free. There is no requirement to sign up for a paid subscription to create a meeting.  Attention Teachers: You can receive a FREE Pro-Account by simply using your school email address to create your account!

CLASSROOM IDEA- Use this tool if you only have one iPad in the classroom and mirror to your Smartboard.  Have students collaborate and add to your Twiddla!

Cool Tech tool- Try Choosito!


Choosito! is an “internet search assistant that filters content based on quality and subject matter and optimizes it for a particular student’s reading level.”

It’s free and the site offers info about how it works.

Students can use Choosito! to find quality links tailored to their reading level. Teachers can customize search filters for students, create a “custom library” of search results, and much more!

15 Sites and Apps Kids are Heading to After Facebook

Social media apps that let teens do it all — text, chat, meet people, and share their pics and videos — often fly under parents’ radars.

Gone are the days of Facebook as a one-stop shop for all social-networking needs. Recent reports go back and forth on teens’ favorite digital hangout, but the fact is that these days, teens are diversifying: dividing their attention among an array of apps and sites that let them write, share, chat, and meet new friends. It may seem more complicated to share photos on Instagram, post secrets on Whisper, flirt with people on Skout, and share jokes on Twitter, but tweens and teens seem to enjoy keeping up with their various virtual outposts, and each one offers something different.

You don’t need to know the ins and outs of all the apps and sites that are “hot” right now (and frankly, if you did, they wouldn’t be trendy anymore). But knowing the basics — what they are, why they’re popular, and what problems can crop up when they’re not used responsibly — can make the difference between a positive and a negative experience for your kid.

Below, we’ve laid out some of the most popular types of apps and websites for teens: texting, micro-blogging, self-destructing/secret, and chatting/meeting/dating. The more you know about each, the better you’ll be able to communicate with your teen about safe choices.

Delaware Digital Learning Conference: Online

Monday, March 16, 2015 to Thursday, March 19, 2015

In conjunction with Digital Learning Day (Friday, March 13), the Delaware Center for Educational Technology / Delaware Department of Education (DCET/DDOE) is hosting the Delaware Digital Learning Conference: Online, a series of 16 Webinars conducted over four days the week after Digital Learning Day (Monday, March 16 to Thursday, March 19). Webinars will be conducted each day at 3:00PM, 4:00PM, 5:00PM, and 6:00PM.

Nywel Cheaye, a 9th grade student at MOT Charter High School, will be sharing about her freshman computer programming course and specifically her experiences with Scratch, De-Bug it, Python and Codecademy. She will be sharing the progress of her learning over the course of this year, highlights from her projects and examples of student achievements in this introductory course. Patti Mooney teaches this course, and will be available during the Q & A session for any instructor related/directed questions. This course is part of our dual-enrollment opportunity with Wilmington University. Our hope is inspire others to consider implementing high school programming courses for the masses so every child has exposure to the skills and higher order problem solving that comes from computer programming.

Register Now! eLearning Delaware- SPRING Sessions Are Open!

Expand Your Horizons by taking an online professional development course from eLearning Delaware! eLearning Delaware uses a Web-based model to provide effective professional development opportunities that lead to gains in teachers’ content knowledge, improvements in their teaching practices, and an increase in the achievement levels of their students. We know educators are lifelong learners. Do you want to increase your skills and knowledge to better help your students achieve higher results? Enroll in an eLearning Delaware course.

There is no $ cost associated with the eLDE online courses. The only “cost” is your time and effort. The courses are designed to take 4-5 hours per week or 30 hours total to complete (you will receive re-licensure hours upon successful completion). Plus, the courses are entirely online (no face-to-face sessions). Each facilitator-led course runs for seven weeks with an orientation week followed by 6 weeks of content where there are specific readings, activities, and an online discussion each week.

Registration is currently open for the SPRING 2015 sessionthat runs from Wednesday, March 18, 2015 to Tuesday, May 12, 2015. We understand that spring break falls during the course, so the week that starts before the traditional spring break (week after Easter) will be extended to two weeks so you can enjoy spring break, and take the opportunity to expand your horizons after you have had a chance to re-charge over spring break.


The following courses are being offered in the Spring 2015 session:
